2024 Walking Sponsorship Packages

A little about us…

Our founder, Karen Hubbs, began her career at the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) as the Sports Marketing Director.  During that time, Karen recruited National Championships as well as other athletic events to Johnson City which brought economic impact to the community.  While at the Johnson City CVB, Karen joined a few community fitness leaders to create the Bluegrass Half Marathon which ignited her passion for road races.  In 2013, Karen took a leap of faith and began The Goose Chase.  Since that time, she and her team have worked with several non-profits and organizations to create many fun events for the region including a marathon, three half marathons, obstacle course races, 5k’s, mile races and most recently the Tri-Cities Walking Challenge.

The Tri-Cities Walking Challenge came from a conversation with several from a Turkey Trot meeting.  Commissioner Jenny Brock and others said, “we need to create a walking challenge” and from there the ideas began flowing.  What started as an idea quickly expanded to a regional activity that is meeting the needs of many in our community.

Currently, we have over 50 teams with 2-6 team members per a team that have walked over 12,000 miles.  Each team’s goal is to achieve 2,024 miles as a group.  We thought the team approach would help all ability levels to reach their goal.  In addition, we have 12 walking ambassadors with weekly group walks throughout Northeast Tennessee.  We average over 400 website views for the challenge. We have over 440 members on the Tri-Cities Walking Challenge Facebook group.   Each day, the Facebook group becomes flooded with testimonials, photos and progress reports.

Lives are changing in big ways through this walking challenges.
